I'm Jody Sheffield and tonight I'll be running my 6 year old mare Skip the
Finances...better known as Zoey. I started on Zoey when she was 4 and she
just craved running barrels. Whether she is running barrels, roping or
climbing a mountain Zoey puts everything she has into it, she loves having a
job! On Easter in 2009 at the Xtreme Barrel Race Zoey stumbled coming up
the alley. After a diagnosis it was determined she had pulled the ligament
that holds her pelvis to her spine. I then decided to send her to Shirley
Ankrum for the summer so she could be treated with Acuscope and Myoscope
therapy, she couldn't have been in better hands! Slowly last winter I
brought her back and started running her in February. 10 months after her
injury she came back right where she left off and we've been winning ever since!
Her first year of running at pro rodeos she won Tooele and Afton and also got me
back to the short round in Reno. Reno was a special time for us because
the day of the short round was also the anniversary of the day my brother in
law, Joe Ben Sheffield, passed away. Joe put the first rides on Zoey and I
will be forever grateful for his faith in her. He always said "they don't
even know what's coming." I'm so blessed to have Zoey come along when my
great horse Kat was needing a backup. From the day I first met my husband
Jesse he said "I have this horse...and she's gonna be awesome." Zoey was
only 2 at the time but he was right, Zoey is amazing and I'm so grateful for her
and to my husband for giving us a chance!
